This is Sundari Rai from Routahat. She got married and had her first child at 15 and has only seen her husband on a few occasions. She became physically disabled after a car hit her and left her with one artificial leg. Because of her disability and despite her very talented skills as a seamstress, Sundari has been unable to find a job to support herself and her two children and consequently has been unable to pay her rent. The Koirala Kaesler Foundation Nepal has given Sundari a job as a teacher to all other women in the Women’s Empowerment Centre so that they can make and sell handicrafts in order to become independent.
